Ophthalmology Practice Receives Meaningful Use Payment Using EyeMD Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Bonita Springs, FL and Paramus, NJ --(Aug 4, 2011) - EyeMD EMR Healthcare Systems and Advanced Data Systems have announced that each company’s solutions are available as an integrated system for state-of-the-art Ophthalmology EHR and Practice Management.

The tightly integrated products, EyeMD EMR from EEHS and MedicsPremier PM from ADS essentially operate as a single, unified solution for comprehensive EHR and PM functionality.

While the companies have been working together for more than a year, with numerous practices utilizing both companies’ solutions, the most recent version of the EyeMD EMR now has a direct advanced integration with MedicsPremier. This integration is much more powerful and seamless than the previous interface.

“The exchange of data between systems is seamless and flawless,” said Abdiel Marin, President of EEHS. He added, “The integration makes them as close as possible to being one single system.”
The companies operate in a very closely-knit fashion as well. David Barzillai, President of ADS, said, “To say that EEHS and ADS work well together is an understatement; the companies are as neatly in tune with each other as is our software.”

The two companies, working in unison, give clients the added benefit of having the ability to obtain the hardware for both systems from a single source. (EyeMD EMR), a leading provider of Electronic Medical Records software designed specifically for the Ophthalmology Specialty, announced today that EyeMD EMR was certified as a Complete EHR on February 17, 2011 by Drummond Group Inc., an ONC-ATCB, in accordance with the applicable eligible provider certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

“Certification for a specialty EMR has always been a challenge,” said Abdiel Marin, President of EyeMD EMR. “We’ve always wanted a certification path that demonstrated our dedication and ability to provide our ophthalmic user base with sustainable medical record technology that will stand the test of time, but previously offered certification paths did not have much consideration for the needs of Ophthalmology. We applaud the efforts of the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and all other organizations involved that helped create a certification path that both gave confidence in our technology, and made minimal impacts to the flow and efficiency of an ophthalmic visit.”

The ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification program tests and certifies that Complete EHRs reliably meet all of the 2011/2012 criteria, and EHR Modules reliably meet one or more — but not all — of the criteria approved by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) for either eligible provider or hospital technology. ONC-ATCB certification is needed to qualify providers for government incentives, and to help providers satisfy meaningful use requirements.
